THE ORIGINS

Peolple often ask how I got into open water swimming and why I particulary chose this extreme form of performance swimming. In my story, I already spoke about what sparked this passion in me – here I would like to go into detail a bit more.

“THE LONG DISTANCES WERE ALREADY MY SHOW DISCIPLINE IN THE SWIMMING POOL”

THE THRILL OF OPEN WATER SWIMMING

There is something about adventures and challenges that magically attracts people, and many achievements result from this. And that goes for me too and eventually drove me into the open waters.
Already in the pool, long distances were my great strength. Finding and managing the perfect balance between speed and endurance is challenging and has made me test my limits. However in my lanes I have always missed something: elements and conditions that no one can influence – a taste of adventure.
Then in open water swimming I finally found what I was looking for: a sporting challenge that demanded everything of me and made me grow beyond myself.
Nothing beats the feeling of conquering a rough sea with its currents, extreme temperatures and weather factors. Nothing beats the feeling of challenging a force of nature and coming ashore victorious after several hard hours. And no swimming pool in the world can give me this very special feeling.
