IN 2020 I FLEW BACK TO NEW ZEALAND WITH THE GOAL OF CONQUERING THE COOK STRAIT. LAST YEAR’S EXPERIENCE SHOWED THAT I WOULD NEED PATIENCE.
Surprisingly when we arrived, it was an unusual sight: The sea was as smooth as glass, no wind, pleasant temperatures. So we quickly started the challenge. Full of euphoria, I climbed into the water. But this time, too, nature struck without mercy. A storm came up out of the blue, swimming was out of the question. Even in 2020, I was unable to conquer the straits of New Zealand. But I am not giving up and will be back!
